Dr Eliza Milliken, BMed UoN, MMed UND Syd, BComms UTS

Dr Eliza Milliken is a dual-trained Infectious Diseases Physician and Clinical Pharmacologist based in Newcastle, NSW.

She holds appointments with John Hunter Hospital, the Therapeutic Goods Administration and NSW Therapeutic Advisory Group. She has published research in leading medical journals including JAMA, MJA, The Journal of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy and Australian Prescriber and has extensive experience in clinical trials, healthcare quality and medical governance.

Dr Milliken provides compassionate, patient-centred care with expertise in complex infections, antimicrobial stewardship and anti-infective medicines. She works closley with the King Street Private Hospital’s peri-operative service and holds admission rights to Newcastle Private, Lake Macqurie Private and Warners Bay Private hospitals.

Dr Hayley Heaton, B Med Sci (Hons), MBBS, FRACP, FRCPA

Dr Hayley Heaton is a dual-trained Infectious Diseases Physician and Microbiologist who provides thoughtful, diligent and patient-centred care, with close attention to each patient’s individual needs and circumstances.

Dr Heaton has extensive expertise in laboratory microbiology, diagnostic interpretation and antimicrobial stewardship, with a strong focus on evidence-based management of complex infections.

Dr Sarah Browning, BMed (UoN) MPHTM (JCU), FRACP

Dr Sarah Browning is an Infectious Diseases physician and Clinical Director of the Infection Prevention Service for Hunter New England Health. She also holds an academic appointment as Conjoint Senior Lecturer with the University of Newcastle.

Sarah has extensive experience in infection prevention and control, healthcare-associated infections, outbreak investigation and management, antimicrobial stewardship, and healthcare quality improvement. She has worked across a broad range of healthcare settings, providing expert advice on infection risks, regulatory compliance, patient safety, and evidence-based infection prevention strategies.

Known for her practical and collaborative approach, Sarah is passionate about translating complex scientific evidence into clear, effective solutions that protect patients, staff, and organisations. Her work focuses on helping healthcare providers and industry partners navigate infection prevention challenges, implement best-practice standards, and improve safety outcomes.

Sarah is currently undertaking a PhD at the University of Newcastle, with research focused on preventing the acquisition and transmission of antimicrobial-resistant organisms within healthcare environments.
